If you have a deferred pension and are over age 55, you can put your pension into payment at any time.
All you have to do is to contact the Pensions Administration Team and provide the following information:
- Your full name
- Your National Insurance number
- Your Plan Member number (if known)
- Your date of birth
- Your current address
We will then provide you with a quotation of the benefits and options available to you. We will ask you to complete some forms and provide copy birth and marriage certificates (if we don’t already hold them) if you want to proceed.
This can all look a bit daunting but we are happy to help you in any way we can. Please contact us if you want us to talk you through any of the forms or options.
Once we have received all the forms we will then put the benefits which you have chosen into payment and write and tell you what we have done.
All of this normally takes about 6 to 8 weeks from start to finish (although it can take a little longer if you have Additional Voluntary Contributions) so the more notice you can give us the better.
If you are only thinking about taking your pension but aren't sure yet, then you can ask us for a quotation of what your benefits would be at a certain date and we will send the information to you but without all of the forms. You can then let us know if you decide to take it any further and we would then issue all the necessary documents for you to complete.
If we don’t hear from you, we will write to you shortly before your 65th birthday to advise you of your pension options.
